12 golden jubilarians of Sisters of Charity of Mangalore province celebrated

Mangaluru, Sep 30: Sisters of Charity of Mangalore province rejoiced at the gift of 12 golden jubilarians who recounted God’s fidelity and innumerable mercy in their consecrated religious life.

The colourful and festive celebration took place at Holy Angels’ Convent, Belvedere giving new glow and look in the atmosphere around. The 12 golden jubilarians Sr Annarosa D’Almeida, Sr Prescilla D’Almeida, Sr Regina D’Silva, Sr Lucy D’Souza, Sr Helen Fernandes, Sr Christine Lobo, Sr Mary Lobo, Sr. Lidwin Mascarenhas, Sr Helen Mendonca, Sr. Annie Ouseph, Sr Valentina Silva and Sr Pauline Saldanha, with lighted candles pronounced again their fidelity to the Lord who walked with them all through the years, determining to consume themselves for the good of the church and the institute till the end.

The main celebrant of the Eucharist was Fr Walter D’Souza. Fr Maxim D’Souza during his homily highlighted the purpose of jubilee celebration. It is a celebration of God’s faithfulness, His divine love and mercy. It is also a time to look back and thank the Lord for the 50 years of sacrifice and service in His vineyard. He invited the Jubilarinas to pray unceasingly, give thanks in all the circumstances and rejoice always.

Expressing her immense joy and gratitude for the gift of each Golden Jubilarian and what they have accomplished in fulfilling the plan of God, Sr Irene Menezes the provincial superior thanked them for being a ‘special message to the world, a special song to sing for others, a special act of love to bestow’

The beautiful legacy of 50 years of long journey, tedious road trodden for the love of God and good of the needy, joy, contentment discovered in the hard labour done in His Vineyard, was kept before those who were present. Indeed blessed are they who knew how to say ‘YES’ to God’s ways, submitting all their dreams and projects for a greater cause. Provincial superior with the gesture of honouring them with shawl and garland acknowledged their mighty share in building Lord’s Kingdom on earth.

Like Mother Mary, the Jubilarians sang the magnificat of gratitude expressing their indebtedness to God and to all those persons who made a difference in their life. The celeberation was concluded with warm, affectionate wishes from the sisters present and with a sumptuous meal.
