ICYM episcopal city deanery, Mangaluru organizes Yuva Parzal 2023

Mangaluru, Oct 9: ICYM Episcopal City Deanery (ECD) organized Yuva Parzal 2023 on October 8 at St Sebastian Centenary Auditorium, Bendur. 

The programme began with prayer song led by ICYM Cascia unit.

Joswin Pinto ICYM ECD president welcomed the following dignitaries on the dais- Fr Ashwin Cardoza - director ICYM Central Council the chief guest of the day; Fr Lawrence Cutinha - director ICYM ECD,  Vinod Lobo - vice president and Patsy Britto - secretary Bendur parish pastoral parishad; Wilma Lobo - ICYM Central Council secretary and ECD representative, Lianna Rodrigues - ICYM Central Council PRO, Joswin Pinto - president ICYM ECD, Carol Monteiro - secretary ICYM ECD. Central Council Lady vice president - Lavisha D'Souza, Amcho Yuvak rep - Colin and all the other guests and ICYM members from episcopal city deanery parishes for the programme.

The programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by the dignitaries on the dais. Carol Monteiro ICYM secretary read the Deanery annual report of 2022-23.

Fr Ashwin Cardoza the chief guest of the programme addressed the youth and said, "Youth are the energy of our society. As a youth one can achieve lot of things and it's a starting point to one's personality development." He emphasised the youth to make best use of their capabilities and talents and be the role model for the younger generation.

ICYM ECD executive committee members of 2022-23 were honoured with certificates. Newly elected ECD executive committee and council members for the year 2023-24 were also honoured.

Fr Lawrence Cutinha, the ICYM ECD director in his message appreciated the youth for enthusiastically taking part in all the activities. Ms Riana Dcunha - ICYM ECD oint Secretary, concluded the formal programme with vote of thanks.

Snehal Lobo - ICYM ECD Red Drop representative compered the formal programme.

Rorthan Coelho, vice president ECD conducted the games and ECD executive committee members conducted the action songs.

Dr Anil Kakkunje and Fr Kenneth Crasta were the resource persons for the day. In their session, they stressed and focused on how to reduce stress and time management. The sessions aimed to strengthen action and cooperation in achieving the goal of having a world free of substance abuse like smoking, alcohol and drugs. The youth participated in the Holy Eucharistic celebration later in the afternoon before the lunch.

Post-lunch variety talent competitions were held for the units of ECD.

Fr Lawrence Cutinha – director, ICYM ECD and  Fr Robin Santhumayor - assistant parish priest of Milagres, Joswin Pinto ICYM ECD president, and Riana D'Cunha - ICYM ECD  joint secretary were present on dais for the valedictory ceremony. 

Fr Lawrence distributed the prizes to all the units for taking part in the games and activities. Fr Robin handed over trophies to the winners of competition.

Jeppu parish won 1st place and Kulur Parish was runner-up.

The event ended with Baila dance. A total of 135 youth attended the Yuva Parzal 2023. A group photo was taken to at the end to remember the event as a memorable one.
