CWRC asks Karnataka to release 3,000 cusecs a day from Oct 16 till Oct 31

Bengaluru, Oct 11: As against Tamil Nadu government’s demand to release 15,000 cusecs a day of Cauvery river water for the next 15 days or 29.75 tmcft, the Cauvery Water Review Committee (CWRC) has asked Karnataka state government to release 3,000 cusecs a day at Biligundlu from October 16 to 31.

Karnataka has made out a strong case before the CWRC to bring to the notice of the Cauvery Water Managing Authority (CWMA) about the shortage of rainfall and distress situation in the State.

The State Government officials, have in their representation before the CWRC said that the cumulative shortfall in the inflows into Karnataka’s four reservoirs in the Cauvery basin was 50.89% as on October 10.

Taking note of the distress situation, the State pointed out that it "will not be able to release any water at Biligundlu from its reservoirs.’’
