Mangaluru: JD(S) leader Jayalaxmi Hegde Adyar passes away

Mangaluru, Oct 12: Leader of JD(S) Jayalaxmi Hegde Adyar passed away on Thursday October 12. She was 82.

Jaylaxmi had an inclination towards social service right from her childhood. She served as president of Adyar Mahila Mandali for more than 40 years and also as president of women wing of JD(S).

Jayalaxmi served as the main activist of executive committee of Buntara yaane Nadavara Sangha and vice president. She served as president of Adyar gram panchayat for five years and as vice president for 10 years.

She was the director of Karnataka state government advisory committee, president of Adyar primary health care centre, committee member of short term residence of Prajna counselling centre Kankanady and vice president of child care centre Dakshina Kannada district. She was instrumental in establishing Anganwadi centres in Kannur, Adyar and Arkula.

Jayalxmi is survived by three sons, one daughter, grandchildren and scores of relatives and friends.
