Udupi, Aug 26: Shruti (19), wife of Manjunath from Mattu village near Katapadi here, committed suicide at her husband’s home on the evening of Wednesday August 24, by hanging herself. Reportedly, there was no one at home when she committed suicide. Her husband, who came home in the evening, saw that she had used veil of her churidar to end her life.
Shruti, daughter of Balakrishna from Kalasa Ganganakudige in Moodigere taluk in Chikmagalur district, had married Manjunath in May this year. They were distant relatives before marriage.
In a complaint filed with the Kaup police, relatives of the girl said that Shruti chose to end her life, frustrated over mental harassment meted out to her by her husband, apart from two others, Sundar Amin and Padmavati. A case was registered at Kaup police station, where investigations are in progress.
