Udupi, Nov 11: “Ayurvedic treatments and medicines are more effective in increasing immunity against sicknesses and for good health”, said additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Mamata Devi G S.

She was speaking after inaugurating National Ayurveda Day celebrations at Ajjarkad district Ayush hospital held under the cooperation of district administration, district panchayat, Ayush department and Ayush Federation of India on November 11.

“Ayurveda is conducive to modern times. It is an ancient health system. Prevention of illnesses and improvement of health are its main aim," she said.

“The noble men of Dhanwantari have provided to mankind the most ancient system of Ayurveda knowledge for relief from sicknesses. The department of Ayush has been celebrating National Ayurveda day since 2016. Ayurveda consists of a traditional health system of food, Yoga, medicinal plants treatment etc. The government should create awareness among people about providing health services through Ayurvedic hospitals and Ayush doctors should come forward to provide good treatment,” she said.

District Ayush officer Dr Sathish Acharya in his introduction said that Dhanwantari Jayanti is being celebrated on the previous day of full moon of Ashwini or Ashwayuja month. “The eighth annual national ayurveda day this year is being celebrated with the slogan all round health for all," he said.

“The Jayanti programme is also being held at gram panchayat levels to create awareness about Ayurvedic treatment," he said.

Expert doctor Dr Sridhar Bayari gave a lecture about Ayurvedic treatment.

Ayush Federation district president Dr Narayan Anchan, Ayush doctor’s association president Dr Nagaraj and others were present.

School teachers of various schools who raised Dhanvantari health farms well were felicitated.
