Udupi: Free quilting workshop for women in Rotary Manipal Hills, Spree Clothing & Quilting

Media Release

Udupi, Nov 13: In a remarkable and socially conscious initiative, Rotary Manipal Hills has teamed up with Sarika Suchitra Kamath from Spree Clothing and Quilting to organize a free, one-month workshop that is empowering women through the art of creating eco-friendly products from scraps.

This collaborative endeavor is a powerful movement that is reshaping the lives of women and promoting sustainable practices. The heart of this month-long training program is to impart valuable skills to women, with a special focus on the art of stitching and crafting. Participants are being introduced to the transformative world of creating practical, marketable items from what many would consider waste. Empowerment is the key theme of this initiative. Many women, due to a lack of education and economic opportunities, find themselves in disadvantaged positions. Women of all backgrounds and ages are encouraged to explore their creative potential and gain economic independence. This program is more than an educational endeavor; it’s a celebration of womanhood and the development of skills that can lead to a more self-sufficient life.

Collaboration is a testament to the strength of community-based initiatives. By pooling their resources, knowledge, and passion, they have created an environment that fosters learning, growth, and empowerment. A unique and crucial aspect of this workshop is its strong emphasis on sustainability. By teaching women how to repurpose scraps into eco-friendly products, the initiative promotes recycling, reduces waste, and contributes to a more environmentally responsible community. Brighter Futures for All: As the workshop continues, its impact is rippling through the community. Women are not only acquiring practical skills but are also gaining confidence and a newfound sense of purpose. Their ability to transform what was once considered waste into valuable, eco-friendly products has the potential to significantly impact their lives and the environment.

Rotary Manipal Hills president C Ramanand Bhat and chief guest Tanuja Maben and other Rotarians attended and inaugurated the workshop.
