Kundapur: DC Vidya Kumari pays visit to spot of fire incident in Gangolli

Kundapur, Nov 15: Deputy Commissioner Dr Vidya Kumari paid a visit to the site of the boat fire accident in Gangolli on Tuesday, November 14 and conducted a spot inspection.

After getting information about the incident from the department officials, the district collectors, local fishermen leaders and boat owners who suffered losses expressed their grief over the tragedy.

Speaking later, she said the government has considered this accident as a special case. She said the chief minister's office had sought information about the incident and told her to submit a comprehensive report on the accident.

 

The district in-charge minister and the minister of fisheries department also made a phone call and collected information and also instructed the officials to respond to the plight of the fishermen.

Therefore, considering this as a special case, the deputy commissioner promised to submit a comprehensive report to the government and try to provide more relief to those affected.

Dr Vidya Kumari said that a meeting will be taken up about starting a fire brigade unit in Gangolli, which is a fishing port area, construction of a pump house and to maintain cleanliness of the manganese wharf area.

She said she would submit a proposal to the government in this regard. 

Kundapura sub-divisional officer Rashmi, Kundapura tahsildar Shobhalakshmi, Fisheries Department assistant director Sumalatha, Anjanadevi, revenue inspector Raghavendra Devadiga, Gangolli grama panchayat president Srinivasa Kharvi, Gangolli police sub-inspector (investigation) Basavaraj, local boat owners, fishermen leaders were present.
