Belagavi, Dec 6: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah ridiculed opposition BJP’s criticism of Congress government’s ambitious ‘’Brand Bengaluru’’ development initiative over the potholes and asked what it did during the four years it was in power in the State.

Speaking to media persons at the Belagavi airport on Wednesday en route to the State legislature session, Siddaramaiah asked BJP to explain its development of Bengaluru city.

“Our government has been in power for six months. What did the BJP do when it ruled the State for 4 years? Did BJP create or promote Brand Bengaluru,’’ he asked and said even the State High Court had pulled up the BJP government and reprimanded it for not filling up the potholes on city roads.

He asked: “What moral right do they have to talk about Bengaluru?’’

Responding to comments that all ministers were in Telangana when the legislature session is taking place in place in North Karnataka, he said it is not correct to claim that all ministers were in Telangana.

“Merely two minisers – D K Shivakumar and Zameer Ahmed – are in Telangana. They too will return and take part in the deliberations. Telangana is also important and part of India,’’ he said.

He took exception to BJP former chief minister Basavaraj Bommai and former JDS chief minister H D Kumaraswamy criticising the government for practicing what they termed as ‘appeasement politics’, and said: “It is BJP language.’’

The Congress government is committed to work for the development of all sections of society, especially the vulnerable as well as the Muslims and Christians, who need protection. “Is it appeasement or doing our duty,’’ he asked.
