Puttur, Dec 24: In a bizarre incident that occurred at the community health centre of Uppinangady, patients were sent back saying that the doctor was on leave due to fourth Saturday.

The patients were asked to come back on Tuesday after the weekend and the Christmas festival holiday.

Shamim and Rahim, employees of a cafetaria of Uppinangady and of north Indian origin, were suffering from high fever. They were taken to the community health centre on Friday night for treatment.

They were instructed to return to the health centre on Saturday if their fever does not subside as their blood test was also needed to be done then.

However, on Saturday when the two labourers arrived at the health centre, they were sent back saying that the doctor was on leave.
