Shimla, Sep 10 (IANS): Textile major Vardhman group will set up its second facility in Baddi industrial area of Himachal Pradesh, an official said here Saturday.
"The government Friday cleared an investment proposal of Vardhman group worth Rs. 188 crore," Director of Industries J.S. Rana told IANS. "This will be the second unit of the company in Baddi."
He said the company will employ 778 people.
Rana said the government cleared the investment proposals worth Rs.762 crore. These included six new facilities.
PME Power Solutions, with investment of Rs.40 crore, will set up an electricity cable manufacturing unit and Alkem Laboratories, with investment of Rs.35 crore, will set up a pharmaceutical drug manufacturing unit.
According to official data, the present Bharatiya Janata Party government of the state has cleared investment proposals worth over Rs.20,000 crore from December 2007 to date.
