As I always say ,wherever possible it is better to stay in a small simple independent house rather than a posh multistoried appartment. Safety in case of fire, earthquake etc ,you can design your own balcony- if at all it you want one, low maintenance, less interference from inquisitive neighbours.

Even though there are very strict standards, there is very scant adherence from the builders and lack of enforcement due to rampant corruption, which is a very common phenomenon in third world countries..... you cannot expect much to change a well developed addiction of greasing the palms....let anybody die... nobody is bothered till their pockets are filled 🤲

RIP! Very tragic and unfortunate accident; difficult to fall off the balcony if the building had a mandatory metal railing above the balcony wall, unless otherwise he climbed on a stool or elevated object etc?

Indian apartments probably have the highest violations anywhere in the world in constructing their apartments except maybe in Somalia, or Bangladesh.....most indian builders get their building permits by greasing the palms of relevant public officials to ignore any building violations whatever they may be. We pay a fortune to get apartments but they are death traps lurking at public and private spaces of many apartments.

India is a third world country where there are no precautions relating to safety. Building apartments are just popping up like mushrooms and people are in a mad rush to migrate into cities. High time people go back to villages and go back to the grand olden age.
