Mumbai, Sep 12 (IANS): A benchmark index for Indian equities markets Monday opened with a negative bias and was ruling about 250 points lower, minutes after opening bell.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the BSE, which opened at 16,668.25 points, was ruling at 16,616.77 points, down 250.2 points or 1.48 percent from its previous close at 16,866.97 points.
The 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange was also trading lower, 1.55 percent down at 4,981 points.
Broader markets were in the red too. The BSE midcap index was down 0.85 percent, while the BSE small cap index was ruling 0.56 percent lower.
