Bangalore, Sep 13: Chief Minister Sadananda Gowda inaugurated the 2.2 km long widened and redeveloped road built in conformity with global standards and donated by NRI businessman and philanthropist Ronald Colaco in Bangalore on NH 7 near Bangalore International Airport.

The road is built at a cost of Rs 4.4 crore, apart from Ronald Colaco donating his own commercial land for the purpose with a market value of nearly Rs. 7.5 crores. It covers villages like Sadahalli, Navaratna Agrahara and Bovipallya Village and also connects the residential townships of Hollywood and Swiss Townships.

This road will benefit about 155 families of Navarathna and Bovipallya villages, about 50 existing and eventually 260 families of Hollywood Town and 60 and eventually 750 families of Swiss Township. The road built to conform to global standards includes a central median, storm water drain and provisions for conduits all along and across the road on important junctions with necessary chambers to avoid any digging of the road in future for any utility work, if needed. If the government agencies, BDA/Corporation also follow this practice with proper plan, taking into account future developments as and when the layouts are created, hundreds of crores of amount can be saved to the exchequer avoiding all sorts of road diggings and repairs each time a house or building comes up requiring utility connections (water, electricity, telephone, optic fiber or sewage).

Inaugurating the newly developed road Chief Minister Sadananda Gowda pointed out that these days when people are bent upon accumulating more and more wealth it is gratifying to come across a person like Ronald Colaco who finds pleasure in giving back to the society from which he has gained. “Colaco has reduced the burden of the government by carrying out the work which the government should have done. He has set a good precedent for others to follow”, Sadananda Gowda said. He also called upon other people to come forward to undertake similar work as done by Colaco, which is beneficial to the society at large. He also pointed out that Colaco has extended his generosity to people irrespective of caste, creed or religion and he is a good example of our unity in diversity. The Chief Minister also said that this was his first stint in power and that he was treading cautiously in every step he takes.

Krishna Bairegowda, MLA of Byatarayanapura constituency, who presided over the function, thanked Ronald Colaco for his generosity in providing an international standard road to the people of the villages. He said Colaco has done this road with his own interest without anyone asking for it and said government should follow in the footsteps of what Colaco has provided for in this newly developed road.

Speaking on the occasion Ronald Colaco said “it is nice to get honoured with garland and peta for whatever little I have done here. However, if some people come forward to undertake any public work which may benefit the society in general, it will make me the happiest person”. He also said that he had taken a commitment to donate some part of his earning for the betterment of the society and what he does is keeping in tune with that promise he had undertaken long ago.
Prof Radhakrishna former Principal of Sheshadripuram College and teacher of Colaco pointed out that he is pleased to see the good work done by the Colaco Couple in the past few decades.

Venkataswamy, MLA, C Mariyappa, President Jilla Panchayat, K Ashokan, Jilla Panchayat Member were also present on the dais.

There was a big contingent from Mangalore who were present on the occasion including former Minister Nagaraj Sehtty, Jagadeesh Adhikari, Felix D Souza Takode, Dennis D Silva, Roshan Castelino, Frank Fernandes, Ramachandra Baikampady, Rajesh Nayak, Srikar Prabhu, Shivaram, Alwyn D Souza and Steevan.

Congratulations to Mr.Ronald Colaco for your generosity, your kindness for noble cause. Our so-called patriotic political leaders (almost all corrupted) should learn from this kind of act by true INDIANS. God Bless You and we pray for more kindness towards humankind.
"C.M Sadananda Gowda said- He also called upon other people to come forward to undertake similar work as done by Colaco, which is beneficial to the society at large. Mr.CM Whatever you says on STAGE is good. These things can also be done by so-called patriotic / spiritual leaders, Politicians then only there will be PEACE and HARMONY in our society/Nation. Practical is better than Theory. Let all Leaders act in Developing the Nation instead of Developing their Assets.
All Politcial or Spiritual Leaders should extend their generosity to people irrespective of caste, creed or religion .
Each and Every Politicians, Ministers, Leaders, MLA, MP..etc.etc. thinks of developing the complete society by Education, Employment, Entertainment, Infrastructures and stops or discourage the corruption, goondagiri, rowdism, partiality, injustice. By removing these diseases, then only we can have PEACE otherwise everywhere only PIECE

One more beautiful and great contribution of yours to the Society. Indeed the Road is of international standards. I am sure our C.M. and Govt. Officials have picked up some ideas of yours and they will improve the quality of roads in our State. Let others take your example and do whatever little they can for the Society. May God Bless you and grant you good health and prosperity to do more and more for the Society.

    Congratulation Mr Ronald Colaco.
It is really heartening to see Mr Colaco contributing so much towards promoting a better living. We find very few of his caliber-so generous and committed. He has always been in the forefront, has been very generous. I too am indebted to him for supporting our new venture: the new AIMIT CAMPUS OF St Aloysius college, Mangalore. Two years back when I met him and did a presentation on our dream of setting up a world class campus for Management & Information Technology, he came forward to support this cause by contributing 25 lakhs. Thank you Mr Colaco. God bless you for your generosity.

I am sure 1000s of people like Mr. Colaco will come forward with personal contributions if they are assisted with basic formalaties. I hope the new CM will encourage this. I in a small way have been trying to get a small place in Someshwar/near Mangalore beach area in order construct 2 toilettes for the common public at my cost including charges for the upkeeping. It is now 2 years and none of the local officials are even bothored to help. the ex. Tourism minister wanted to build cable cars and helicopter landing sites etc etc but none of these corrupt politicians think of the common people who do not have even toilettes on the beaches. They have no other choice but shit and piss on the beaches. Is there anyone out there who has the same ambition like me to do something for the public without looking for any fame then please write to me under Vazcobosco@yahoo.de please only serious persons.

As we congratulate Sri Ronald Colaco and his family, we recall to mind the famous quotation attributed to Stephen Grellet "I expect to pass through this world but once. Any good, therefore, that I can do or any kindness I can show to any fellow creature let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it for I shall not pass this way again". Sri Ronald encompasses all of humanity and therein lays his greatness. We can all learn from this great man.

Unbelievable! I did not even know when the work had begun. I wish someone like Ronald Colaco visits a place called Belman and passes through the "road" to Katpady via Shirva. Shrikhetra Dharmastala
Gramabhivradi Yojane Swsahaya teams are giving their voluntary service to make it look like a road. I wish the authorities support them in their noble work. If not, if some generous people come forward to supplement their efforts.

we are already paying nearly 30% of our income as income tax which i would expect the government to use for such developmental activities. this is apart from the variouos other tax that the governmetn collects in the name of road tax, sales tax, service tax, VAT and what not.

Let governtment stop taking tax, after that i can spend the same amount for developmetn activities in and around where i live.
