Kundapur, Jan 28: State minister of public works department (PWD), Satish Jarkiholi, announced his decision not to contest elections, revealing that family members would also abstain from electoral participation. He asserted that party workers would be nominated for elections based on a state-conducted survey, with the final decision resting with the high command.
Speaking after an inspection of the Gangolli port area and engaging with local residents, Jarkiholi addressed political developments, stating that Jagadish Shettar's shift to BJP is old news and dismissed discussions on Laxman Savadi's potential move. He remarked, "Let us see when he goes."
Responding to opposition allegations of insufficient funds hindering development projects, Jarkiholi refuted the claims, asserting that funds were readily available. He attributed challenges to the previous government's lack of budgetary allocations for past projects, which diverted funds from current development initiatives. Regarding road repairs, he affirmed that potholes across the state were being addressed, with funds allocated for road development.
Discussing the proposed Gangolli-Kundapur bridge, he acknowledged the need for additional funds due to its 1.6-kilometer length. Jarkiholi assured prioritized action after surveying similar bridge requirements in other parts of the state.
Highlighting pending Jetty work at Gangolli fisheries port, he expressed intentions to collaborate with the Minister of Fisheries for resolution.
Former MLA K Gopala Poojary, Congress leaders Dinesh Hegde Molahalli, Hariprasad Shetty Kanmakki, Chandrashekar Kharvi, and others accompanied Jarkiholi.
