Problem with NH-66 from Udupi to Mangalore is the speed limit. With so many U-turns, junctions and merging roads the speed limit must be lowered and posted. Offenders must pay a hefty fine.

Old tar curvy roads were 100× safer than these so called concrete expressways built by so called highway engineers, which are the cause of so many fatal road crashes wherein entire families get wiped out....much .worst than any third world countries 😔🙏🙏

Almost all Two wheeler riders do not follow the traffic rules. They just try to overtake from any side that they feel like . Traffic department should conduct strict exams to all drivers before issuing licence to make sure that they are aware of the traffic rules. Two wheelers should not be allowed on highways wherever service roads are present. This will save many lives.

Just building kms and kms of concrete expressways, just to create world records, without any planning like underpass/overpass, CCTV speed scrutiny etc etc doesn't make any sense 😞; these highway companies should send their personnel abroad for training before building these useless concrete expressways; ALSO MAJORITY "EXPRESSWAYS ARE ALLOWING MAX 100-120KMPH", THEN WHY ALLOW ANY VEHICLES TO BE SOLD HAVING SPEED CAPACITY BEYOND MAX SPEEDS UP TO 150KMPH???

Any vehicle in the sense ? 4 wheeler passenger cars are designed go upto 220 kmph but legal speed limit is 120. Commercial vehicles speed limit is 80 kmph. a normal commuter bike won't go above 110kmph. similarly a 400 cc bikes go above 160+. every vehicle is designed technically for specific purpose. taxis are locked for 65 kmph.. you can't change the technology that's globally accepted. Do some automotive research. haven't you seen ministers cars going above 160+ ?

This is not a freak accident, problem is that vehicles entering the main road/ highway do not stop, just come out and if there is speeding vehicle on the main road a collision takes place and in this case a pillion is killed because of the speed. The rider was not aware of a vehicle entering the main road.

Police patrol is literally non existent on this stretch. Lot of vehicles plying on the wrong side. Vehicles entering the highway without pausing. Even in the night vehicles come on the wrong side with highbeam. I haven't seen one police patrol on the highway except one standing near hejamady toll and one more near mulky.
