Riyadh: Indian Siblings Shot Dead Near Jeddah

Riyadh, Oct 7 (Arab News): A Saudi shot two Indian expatriate brothers dead following an argument at a workshop in Taif region, the Indian Consulate General in Jeddah said on Wednesday.

Mohammed Zakhir Ahmad, 41, and Ahmad Yasin, 46, both died on the spot after the attack, which occurred at Sail Al-Sagheer, a town about 200 km from Jeddah.

Confirming the incident, Consul S.D. Moorthy told Arab News that the shooting took place at around 7 a.m. at a small workshop where window grills and iron doors are made. A third brother escaped unhurt. The Saudi was running a motel in the same town where the killing took place.

Moorthy said the alleged attacker had given the workshop workers a job which they were unable to complete on time. "On the fateful day, the Saudi had confronted them for not finishing the work as agreed," Moorthy said, adding that argument led to a brawl and the Saudi took a gun from his car and shot both the brothers.

The shooter was overpowered by bystanders and handed over to the police. The victims hailed from Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh state.

    Moral of the story,
Things can be solved amicably, but bad temperament spoils the whole matter. We need to control our anger especially when we speak to people who do not understand or adopt a rude policy.
even at home, when we speak to our kids politely then react positively and quickly, while if we loose temper it will not be effective.
It seems like a small deal with Saudi, went out of control. Devil says he plays with people who loose temper in no time like a ball. They are his best bets

I fully sympathize with the bereaved family and pray that their soul rest in peace. 2 families have lost their bread winners. At the same time I hope the stringent punishment to the murderer of our 2 Indian citizens. Hope there will be sufficient compensation to the victim’s family.

In my below message I am not at all defending the heinous, vulture act of murderer, done by this Saudi murderer to the 2 Indian brothers. This is my own observations.

I have seen in my own eyes, we Indian sub continent, most of the time accept jobs or give promises to ute the task taken, in spite of our own limited resources, which one cannot fulfill in time.

The Indian Consul S.D. Moorth said the alleged attacker had given the workshop workers a job which they were unable to complete on time. On the fateful day, the Saudi had confronted them for not finishing the work in time and the argument which turned into confrontation has finally ended 2 peoples life by the act of murder by the murderer. Majority of Saudi citizens treat Indian sub continent just like slaves and this mentality is prevailing in that country even now. Once we know the weakness of ours and our own Country, tone of one’s language could have saved their life. It is not religion which keeps one in equality of all nationality , but it is one’s own State which feels and stand by, for its citizens.

Once again my heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved members of the family. May their soul rest in peace.

We Indians are not safe in gulf country.
Last few months back during Ramadan month four Indians have been killed by police officer in Kuwait.
Because he found them eating 10 minutes before Iftar.
Kuwait government d that, the policeman is suffering from mental illness.
What a surprise, a mental ill person can carry a gun also he shoot very well also can work in military.
Indian embassy was salient in this issue.
Again the same type of incident occurred in Saudi
These all Indians were killed because of a lame reason.
If it’s happened to USA or UK nationalities what will be the result?
Forget about these country even Philippines nationalities..!
Indian embassy should protect Indian citizens who are working in gulf countries.
If Indian embassy will keep salient then who will help us?

YOU HAVE NOT READ MY MAIL PROPERLY.WHAT I SAID WAS WHEN THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED INDIAN MINISTRY MUST TAKE UP THE MATTER WITH SAUDI AUTHORITIES AND URGE THEM TO CATCH THE CULPRIT . THIS IS ONE INCIDENT.

IF YOU KNOW FEW YEARS BACK A MUSLIM FRM KERALA WAS HANGED AS COURT DID NOT WAIT UNTIL A PLEA REACHED IT.IT WAS IN A HURRRY TO HANG HIM .I REITERATE OUR INDIAN MINISTRY IS NOT TAKING UP THESE ISSUES STERLY AND HENCE THESE THINGS DO REPEAT AGAIN AND AGAIN ALL OVER THE WORLD.

IF YOU SEE UK EMBASSY THE WAY THEY TAKE UP THESE ISSUES ARE REALLY ADMIRABLE. EVEN THE STUDENT ISSUES IN AUSTRALIA OR US ARE JUST LIMITED TO FEW STATEMENTS IN NDTV AND NO ONE KNOWS WHAT HAPPENS LATTER ! I REITERATE PEOPLE LIKE SHASHI THROOR SHOULD BE INVOLVED IN FOREIGN AFFAIRS WHO IS DYNAMIC AND HAS A EXPERIENCE IN UN TOO

No authorities can keep an eye on each and every citizen of the country, who are living abroad. FRNZ, Dubai, must be an anti-congress guy, so he comments on S.M. Krishna. When I was working in Salalah (Oman), somewhere in 1986, our General Manager (British), Mr. Arthur Angel (a very thorough gentleman) was chased by a "Baddu" (jungli u can say), when he went to a beach in the morning, shot-dead inside his car itself for no reason whatsoever. Does this mean all the British nationals should blame their foreign minister?!

I pity the victims. No doubt the culprit's head would be chopped after a court verdict. There is no loopholes in the justice system and he can not get away from the death sentence. The blood money, I think, has now increased from SR. 100 to 200 thousand per person and in this case, two lives have lost. I would say, the victims'relatives should not ask for blood money, rather stick to crazy Saudi's head.

FRNZ, DUBAI and Lydia Lobo, Kadri,

SM Krishna is not as dumb as you think,,, he is educated enough to understand world situation....

He did his law degree from South Methodist Law School, Texas, USA in 1959,perhaps before you were born and taught law in one of law colleges in Bangalore, before he started his public life in 1962....10 years before Moilymamu started his public life from late Sadananda Kamath's varanda(Jagali....)in Karkala.....

Saudi authhoritities are very stubborn and only listen to powerful....like US.

This all happens because there are lot of Un-skilled/semi- skilled workers working in the gulf countries and because of that most of the indian's are looked down by natives there which in my opinion is wrong....

Well iam sure SMK must have asked Foreign Secretary/Indian ambessay in Saudi Arabia to negotiate with Saudi Officials and doing his best within his abilities...

I am not a great fan of CONgress folks but I think this criticism is unwarrented and uncalled for....

    Jai Hooooooooooooooooooooooooo

    Langoolacharya.

    FRNZ,

How will the Foreign Ministry have a clue as to when a Saudi will turn a maniac ? How about Indians boycotting working in Arab countries ? Shall we lead from Dubai ? Not possible - isn't it ? You can instead pray that the victims' family gets compensation than blaming your country's authorities who send planes to airlift you when a war erupts.

What happened in Saudi was not within the limits of the victims but you have some responsibility to honour your country than shaming it by calling names to a minister constitutionally appointed.

In the kingdom of Saudi arabia death is the only punishment to a murderer. And in this particular incident due to the presence of witness its a strong case. Blood money along with mercy petition may save him from death but not punishment of jail sentence which is 25 years or so. My deep sympathies for the family of deceased. May Almighty grant them the fortitude to bear this senseless killing.

Whats is SM Krishna who is in his 70s or 80s doing in this matter?. By now he should have been on the phone to saudi ministry .Is he bothered? Is he dynamic enough to create a relationships with foreign countries in his old ailing age?. Has he got a iota of idea whats foreign relationships? Even today A Indian has to wait like a slave for 3 hours in the airport to get a visa in a some countries(I am not talking about middleeast).Indians are traeted a category with pakistanis,Bangldeshis whereas a european even if is for example a smuggler walks scotfree in a seconds. whats indian foreign ministry doing? India is a growing economy by the virtue of industrialisation,NRI and economic policies and indian needs better respect !
