Kundapur: Malpe fishing vessel stranded on Beejadi beach rescued

Daijiworld Media Network – Kundapur (MS)

Kundapur, May 2: A boat departing from the Malpe fishing port for deep-sea fishing veered off course due to the helmsman's drowsiness, eventually becoming stranded on the beach of Beejadi and getting stuck in the sand.

The boat set sail from Malpe port at midnight on April 30, carrying seven fishermen. However, all of them fell asleep, and the boat reached Beejadi sea beach near Glue Clich cottage around 3 am on May 1. It is suspected that heavy winds may have also contributed to the change in direction.

As dawn broke, a large crowd gathered to witness the boat. There were suspicions about whether it was a spy boat, as no fishermen were visible on board. Later, it was revealed that the boat belonged to a person from Kodibengre, with six to seven partners owning it. The mishap provided nearby resort tourists with the opportunity to observe the boat up close.

The fan blades of the boat were damaged as it got stuck in the sand. After repairs were made, with the assistance of two JCBs and two boats, the vessel was refloated and taken back to the deep sea, eventually returning to the Malpe port on Wednesday afternoon.
