Karkala, Oct 14:
Ajekar-Gundame is a tiny village situated three km away from Ajekar, across a rivulet. It is inhabited by about 25 families. It lies disconnected from the rest of the world, except for a rickety makeshift wooden bridge.

That means, if anyone in the village falls seriously sick or passes away, he or she has to be ferried across the hanging bridge, a task not easily achievable.

The village elders have been pleading with the elected representatives and government officers for two decades to lay a permanent bridge, but this has not been realized yet. The wooden beams that support the planks are a nightmare to those who had to go to neighbouring villages for their daily tasks. The rivulet flows heavily during torrential rains, cutting off connectivity to the mainland.

Another worry is that the dense forest on the banks of the rivulet could prove to be an ideal hideout for Naxals who are likely to appear in the region and influence the locals to join in their struggle against the government. The remote village lacks basic amenities that can be issues exploited by the Naxals to cause the villagers to revolt.

Locals are urging the district administration to construct a bridge in their neighbourhood which can ease their daily hardships, especially during the monsoon. However, so far, nobody seems to be hearing their pleas, or seeing their troubles.

    Mr. Nagesh Nayak, If you are a kind of Social Worker or Helping Nature Person it's wake up call for you to go and help the above mentioned area people. I am not asking you to make a bridge instaed asking you to give support by giving a Wood Peace if you are so much concerned. Do not blame any polical party. Do you know in just 3 years how much money looted by Janardhana Reddy? Before he is to count the notes but now he is counting flies in Jail. He kept more than worth of 50 Cr. Gold at his Bunglow which is made by Bellary Mining and more than worth of 50 Cr. Golden Kireeta to Tirupath Temple. Common Nagesh, which God Wants Treasury.

    HEY, Jossey Saldanha, Mangalore/Mapusa/ Mumbai,

    YOU ARE 100% RIGHT . EVEN SOMALIA HAVE BETTER INFRASTRUCTURE TO ITALIAN LED CONGRESS FOR LOOTING .

    IN ITALIAN LED CONGRESS'S DICTIONARY "DEVELOPMENT" MEANS LOOTING INDIA & DEPOSITING IN SWISS BANK.

    @Nagesh Nayak, Bangalore.
    In BJP’s Dictatonary - “Development” means Loot and Rape e.g. Yeddy, Reddy, Katta, Hallappa ……
    Even Somalia has better Infrastructure. “CHAPPAL POOJA” is the only remedy left.

    Very good information. both political parties and the three representative became useless. They could not do or notice the problems of their own town where people voted them. What they can do for the state or country????? If at all BJP guy wanted to do 3 years time is too much for this small project. When I saw this pictures I can’t believe myself still this type of total unsafe wood bridges are there in Karkala/Kar-nataka/India!!!

    It is high time Mr Nagesh Nayak, now you should do something for the country instead of always blaming the Italian Led government. It looks like your comments are childish...for the sake of sending comments, you comment.

    Extremely dissapointed to know that village elders have been pleading with local representatives for 2 decades ! 20 years ! May be,Government is waiting for the bridge to collapse and start permanent bridge ! Now we are sending satellite once in a month,so much advanced in technology..but basic things have been totally ignored.We don't want anyone to go to moon,but need basic things.That is what important now. I request local people,organisations to join together and lay permanent bridge yourself. One thing is sure,whoever walked on this bridge can directly participate in Olympics in Gymnastic section.Gold medal 100% sure.

    On one side govt boasting development development...but this village has lacking very basic felicity of connectivity to outer world.Especially during monsoon time it is very difficult for the dwellers including children those going for school.Govt now a days focusing on Naxal infected areas so this small bridge can brought under Naxal package.Anyhow where is the time for district in charge minister.They are all behind Eddy in fixing court cases and politics.
