Telangana RTC Employees Call Off Strike

Hyderabad, Oct 16 (IANS): Employees of state-owned Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) in Telangana have called off their 28-day long strike.

Leaders of RTC Joint Action Committee made the announcement Saturday night after the Telangana Joint Action Committee, which is spearheading the movement for separate Telangana state, exempted RTC from the ongoing "people's strike" in the region.

Leaders of RTC JAC, who made the announcement in the presence of Telangana JAC convener M. Kodandaram, said they had taken the decision in view of the inconvenience to people.

Kodandaram, however, said the strike by government employees and other sections of people would continue.

Following the decision, the buses will return on the roads in Telangana.

Earlier this week, a section of RTC employees had called off the strike, following which about 30 percent services had resumed, especially in Hyderabad and Khammam districts.
