Corruption Allegations: Medha Patkar Defends Hazare

New Delhi, Oct 17 (IANS): Rubbishing allegations of corruption against Anna Hazare, activist Medha Patkar Monday said that he was an honest person and ready for an enquiry.

"A number of such allegations will come up unless they are proved…Everyone knows that Anna is not a corrupt person," said Patkar, founder of the Narmada Bachao Andolan and the National Alliance of People's Movements.

"The same is true about the earlier enquiry by the Maharashtra government when nothing could come out," she added.

Her statement came after the Supreme Court issued notice to Hazare as well as the central and Maharashtra governments on a petition seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the alleged siphoning of funds given to the anti-corruption activist's Hind Swaraj Trust.

"I am sure that these allegations will just go away. Let the enquiry take place and when Anna is ready then why should we worry about that?"

"The experience was same in the Narmada Bachao Andolan…So, we have seen these kinds of political allegations," she said.

Well Well. If he is not corrupt as he claims, then nothing to worry. However, if it is proved in a court of law then there is everything to fear. Time will bring out all truth as the saying goes: God Sees the Truth but waits! Sometimes very long, sometimes quick!
