Puttur: St Philomena College organises environmental protection workshop

Puttur/Ariadka, Jun 18: The post graduate studies and research centre at St Philomena College, Puttur, in collaboration with the Grama Panchayat Ariadka, organised an 'Environment Protection Information' workshop. This event, part of the Rural Educational Camp, took place on June 14, at Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Higher Primary School.

The workshop was presided over by Mohammad Haneef, president of the School Development Monitoring Committee (SDMC) at Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Senior Primary School, Ariadka. Harish Rai, member of grama panchayat Ariadka, Jayanthi N, head mistress of Dakshina Kannada District Senior Primary School, Ariadka, Iqbal Hussain, president of the old students’ association, Dakshina Kannada District Panchayat Senior Primary School, Ariadka, Pramod Rai Panekkal, were present on the occasion.

Nagesh, Panchayat development officer of Grama Panchayat Aryapu, served as the resource person for the day.

During his address, Harish Rai emphasised the collective responsibility of environmental protection, urging everyone to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings. Iqbal Hussain highlighted the importance of environmental conservation and encouraged children to actively participate in protecting the environment.

Jayanthi N praised the initiative, encouraging students to take full advantage of the workshop. She also congratulated the faculty and students of the social work department for their efforts in organizing the event.

Mohammad Haneef who presided over the event, also addressed the gathering, reiterating the importance of environmental protection. School students rendered prayer, Ashwini Rai welcomed, Subrahmanya Prasad proposed the vote of thanks, and Ananya Krishna compered.

Following the formal programme, Nagesh provided students with valuable information on environmental protection. Additionally, the social work department students planted fruit saplings on the school premises and organised various competitions for the students, which were met with enthusiastic participation.
