Mangaluru: St Agnes School CBSE holds festivities for International Yoga Day

Mangaluru, Jun 21: St Agnes School (CBSE), Bendore, commemorated International Yoga Day on June 21. The school emphasised the theme "Yoga for Self and Society" as a means to advocate for healing and inner peace. The event commenced with a prayer service, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolising tranquillity and wellness.

The celebration featured a spectacular dance performance by the students, incorporating various Yoga asanas and promoting physical wellness through movement and mindfulness. A harmonious Yoga Geeth was also performed, emphasising the mental and spiritual benefits of yoga practice, such as inner peace and self-awareness. Additionally, a skit incorporating the significance of Yoga Asanas in empowering women to lead healthy and fulfilling lives through self-care and empowerment was depicted.

 

A mass yoga was conducted to encourage active participation from both students and staff. Furthermore, they were encouraged to join the International Day of Yoga (IDY) competitions and Yoga quiz, which are organised by the Ministry of Ayush on the MyGov platform.

The chief guest, Vasudha S, the physical education director at St Agnes College, expressed her gratitude for the invitation and praised the students for their meaningful performance. She emphasised the health benefits of yoga and encouraged the students to practice it regularly to maintain a calm mind and a healthy body. Her encouragement motivated the students to consider adopting yoga as a holistic approach towards maintaining a balanced and healthy lifestyle.

Principal Sr Maria Sarika A C shared insightful and beneficial yoga tips, stressing the importance of incorporating yoga into their daily routines. She passionately encouraged the students to commit to practicing yoga every day without fail, emphasising its significant role in maintaining good health and promoting an active lifestyle.

The programme was graced by the principal Sr Maria Sarika A C, vice-principal Sr Meena Fernandes A C, Sr Reshma Dsouza A C, as well as a multitude of staff members and students creating a vibrant atmosphere.

The adept hosting by Jane Justin and Joanna Rego added a professional touch to the occasion, while the warm welcome address by Neoma Meli Fernandes set a positive tone for the day. Tanisha Acharya's eloquent vote of thanks expressed gratitude succinctly. The programme culminated with all participants coming together in unity to sing the school anthem, embodying the spirit of harmony and collaboration synonymous with Yoga Day celebrations.
