Portions of Rahul Gandhi's controversial LS speech expunged

New Delhi, Jul 2 (IANS): Parts of Rahul Gandhi's speech in the Lok Sabha during a discussion on the President's Address on July 1 have been expunged.

The portions expunged include his comments on Hindus and others.

Rahul Gandhi’s maiden speech as the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha was marked by huge pandemonium and uproar on Monday.

Starting his speech, the Congress MP waved a copy of the Constitution and also the photo of Lord Shiva while launching a broadside at the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

Rahul Gandhi’s reference to Hindus drew strong protest from the BJP MPs and also a rare intervention from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

PM Modi stood up to interject the Congress MP and said, “Calling the entire Hindu community violent is a very serious matter.”

Home Minister Amit Shah demanded an apology from the Congress MP for ‘linking’ the BJP with violence.

The Home Minister also took strong exception to Rahul Gandhi’s analogy of ‘violent Hindus’ with the BJP and demanded that the Congress leader tender an apology.

Rahul Gandhi, showing Constitution of India, is scaring Modi led BJP. He is showing Lord Shiva picture, scaring BJP. He is talking about inflation, unemployment, agniveer, youth, farmer, student distress, is scaring BJP. He is a opposition leader and voice of people, his job is to expose BJP govt. He is doing a fine job. Modi led BJP is scared and it shows. Maybe the leaking roof of Ayodhya Temple, might have shaken trust and confidence of even fantatic bhakts.

Rahul Gandhi speech indeed worthwhile to watch. It was straight forward and asking BJP on its failures. It talked about unemployment issues, youth getting robbed of opportunities in education, youth getting robbed of serving as indian army soldiers through agniveer kind of tempory contract worker scheme, farmers denied of legal guarantee on MSP, women facing raising cost of living etc. He talked about issues that is concerning indian people. He took inspiration of Lord Shiva. If BJP bhakths has problem with that, no body can help it. If they too consider themselves as indians, then they are also included in his speech.
