Two-month Udupi Utsava from November 20 Onwards

Udupi, Nov 19: Municipal president, Kiran Kumar, informed that the municipality will be holding ‘Udupi Utsava’ as in the last year, at MGM College ground from November 20 onwards. “The Utsava will be on for two months. A mega exhibition will be organized during the period at the said venue,” he added.

The Utsava is being organized in association with National Consumer Fair, Bangalore. The exhibition will have over 200 stalls dealing in different wares. Cultural programmes will be held at the ground twice a week. On the occasion, ‘Beach Utsava’ will be organized at Malpe beach during the concluding days of the festival, he explained.  He recalled that the Utsava had got about three lac visitors last year, generating an income of about Rs 40 lac.

“We expect the attendance to be much more this time because of the intervening Paryaya festival, which will be held on January 18, 2012. Revenue from the exhibition will be routed towards cultural programmes,” he revealed.

The Utsava is set to be inaugurated by district in-charge minister, Dr V S Acharya. The exhibition will be inaugurated by Ashok Pai, while the amusements section of the exhibition will be inaugurated by MLC, Kota Srinivas Poojary, Kiran Kumar stated.
