Bangalore, Nov 21: Karnataka Lokayukta Special Court Judge N K Sudhindra Rao will pronounce orders on admissibility of the private complaint against alleged land scam by former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, former Housing Minister V Somanna and two others on Tuesday November 22.

In another separate hearing on a private complaint filed by RTI activist Jayakumar Hiremath against the Home and Transport Minister R Ashok on the alleged irregularities in the denotification of land, Lokayukta Special Court Judge Sudhindra Rao granted four week’s time to the Lokayukta police to file the final report on the investigation and adjourned the hearing to December 16.

The Lokayukta Special Court is already hearing five other private complaints filed by city advocate Sirajin Basha against Yeddyurappa levelling similar charges of irregularities in denotification of land.

Yeddyurappa was remanded to judicial custody by Sudhindra Rao in two private complaints filed by Srirajan Basha. But he was recently granted bail in the cases and anticipatory bail in two others. The bail process in the fifth complaint is yet to begin.

The court adjourned further hearing on the fourth and fifth private
complaints filed by Basha to November 30.

The Lokaykta Judge, who heard the private complaint filed by software engineer Ravi Krishna Reddy, sought to know if the complainant had come before him with any ''hidden agenda” as he had filed the complaint directly without following the prescribed procedures of approaching the Lokayukta police.

The complainant has alleged that Yeddyurappa denotified 22 guntas of land in Nagadevanahalli in 2009 to an education trust headed by Somanna’s wife Shailaja in violation of rules.

The land in question had already been acquired by the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) in 1998, he submitted. The building constructed by the education trust is an “illegal” building as it had not been accorded permission for construction by the competent authorities.

Shailaja and Lingaraju, erstwhile owner of the land, are the two other accused named in the complaint.

Ashok’s Land Scam Case Hearing on Dec 16

In another separate hearing on a private complaint filed by RTI activist Jayakumar Hiremath against the Home and Transport Minister R Ashok on the alleged irregularities in the denotification of land, Lokayukta Special Court Judge N K Sudhindra Rao granted four week’s time to the Lokayukta police to file the final report on the investigation.

Posting the hearing to December 16, the Judge asked the Lokayukta police to complete the investigation and file the final report in four weeks.

The Judge rejected the plea filed by the Lokayukta police seeking six weeks for completing the investigation.

RTI activist Jayakumar Hiremath had filed a complaint accusing Ashok of being involved in illegal denotification of government land causing an estimated Rs 50 crore loss to the state exchequer. The minister had allegedly denotified a total of 23.12 guntas of land belonging to BDA when Yeddyurappa was the Chief Minister.
