Mangalore: Two Year Jail for Securing Passport with Fake Address

Mangalore, Nov 23: The second additional chief judicial magistrate’s court here sentenced a person to two years of imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 12,000 for securing a passport by furnishing fake address. In case of failure to pay up fine, he will have to undergo three months of additional imprisonment.

Reportedly, Mohammed Mustafa (30), residing near Highland in the city, had got a passport by claiming himself to be Mohammed Nakash, House No. 77, Kaverinagar, Kavalbhayrasandra, R T Nagar, Bangalore.  During investigation, it was found that Mohammed possessed two passports, and that he had travelled to foreign countries many a time with the help of the fake passport. Charge sheet under various sections of Indian Penal Code had been filed against him after a team led by district crime intelligence bureau inspector, H N Venkatesh Prasanna, investigated the matter.

Second additional chief judicial magistrate, K Bhagya, who presided over the hearing, pronounced the above verdict on November 21.

    Laws and Rules and Punishments are imposed on common man who does not have political and money power. Those who have both will escape from all laws and punishments. There are several examples for this.

    these rules are imposed on common people. they don't have enough guts to jail people who are on top levels filling their homes with wealth.

    The same rule and law should apply for Reddy who acquired second passport with Chennai address while he was already with CBI custody.

    Why cannot we have a eye scanning or finger print scanning and be stored in the computer so that no two passport's will be issued to the same person. More over I would suggest that only one passport number should be given to a person for his entire life, when a passport is renewed the new passport should carry the old number.
