Udupi: State Level Primary, High School Students’ Sports Meet to begin on Nov 26

Udupi, Nov 25: The state-level primary and high school students’ sports meet will be held at SMS Pre-University College, Brahmavar, from Saturday November 26 to Tuesday November 29.

ZP president Katpady Shankar Poojary will inaugurate the floodlit sports meet in Brahmavar at 5.00 pm on Saturday.

International sportsman S D Eshan will light the sports torch. A cultural extravaganza will be held on Tuesday evening under the leadership of Alvas Education Foundation chairman Dr Mohan Alva.

MLA K Raghupati Bhat will preside over valedictory function at 3.30 pm on Tuesday. District-in-charge minister Dr V S Acharya will present the prizes to the winners.


It is the first time in the history of Udupi district that the sports meet has been organized for by public instructions department in association with district administration and zilla panchayat.

About 4,000 athletes from 34 districts across the state and 1,000 officers including umpires will participate in the sports meet.

The competitions will be held in 20 divisions for primary students and 33 divisions for high school students.
Special prize: Brahmavar Sports Club will award cash prizes to the top three winners.

The district youth service and sports department assistant director Sitanadi Vittal Shetty, Brahmavar OSC Education Institute secretary Joseph Suvares, SMS College vice-principal B Srinivas Bhat, physical education director Chandrashekar Hegde, and Madhukar S were present at the press meet.
