Daijiworld Media Network – Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Nov 25: Karnataka Chief Minister, D V Sadananda Gowda’ s wait to become a member of the legislative council as per legal requirement, has been extended. The central election commission has postponed the election by ten days, to December 22.

Election for Bellary rural constituency is being held on November 30. Counting of votes will be held on December 4, and result is expected to be announced the same day. The electoral list of the assembly should contain 224 names from the assembly. The Bellary rural seat, which was vacated with the resignation of Sriramulu, will be filled on December 4. If the nomination process begins on December 2 as scheduled, the candidate winning from this constituency will not have the right to cast his vote as per legal provisions. Because, the provision to revise electoral roll is available only till a day earlier to the date of filing nomination.

These technicalities were brought to the notice of the central election commission by the Karnataka in-charge chief electoral officer, Manoj. As per the revised list, election notification will be issued on December 5 instead of November 25, and December 12 will be the last day for filing nominations. Scrutiny of nominations will take place on December 13, and December 15 will be the last day for withdrawal of nominations. Election will be held on December 22, and counting of votes will take place from 5 pm onwards that day.
