M'lore: Secretary to President of India Delivers Talk on Soft Skills in Healthcare

Mangalore, Nov 28: "Sensitivity to the feelings of patients, human touch at a time when technology is transforming many things, and ethics among other aspects constitute the best of soft skills," asserted Dr Christy Fernandez, IAS, secretary to the President of India, while delivering his lecture on 'Soft Skills for Healthcare Professionals' at Fr Muller Medical College (FMMC) Decennial Memorial Hall here on Monday November 28.

"In this fast growing world, inculcating hard skills is just not enough as your patients are actually looking for a humane approach," Dr Christy told future doctors, adding that ability to adapt to fast-changing situations is the most important soft skill.

‘Smile’ is the first and foremost aspect of good communication that a doctor should have, he said, and added that creativity, problem solving, team work and confidence which could only be gained out of knowledge are also soft skills that a person can inculcate.
 
Fr Denis D’Sa, administrator, FMMC, welcomed. Fr Patrick Rodrigues, director, Fr Muller Charitable Institutions, Dr J P Alva, dean, FMMC were present.

    That was excellent, we can over come the problem to any extent with a sweet and a heartful SMILE. When the doctor shares a smile with the patient, then the patient feels that he has got some one to share the problems and forgets the problem to some extent, which says it is with love and affection but not commercial.
    then the best way to work is in team for creativity and also gaining GK and solving the problems. But doctors should also be considerable to some extent to the BPL. They are the saviors so they should also be like the God who does not expect anything in physical.
