Mangaluru: Annual sports meet inaugurated at Milagres College

Mangaluru, Dec 5: The annual sports meet of Milagres College was inaugurated on December 5 at Mangala Stadium.

Dr Amar Sunil Lobo, professor of Microbiology at Yenepoya Medical College, inaugurated the event by handing over the sports torch to the sports captain.

In his address, he emphasised that sports foster willpower, concentration, and a competitive spirit. He highlighted that consistent hard work is essential for success and that failure serves as a stepping stone to achievement. He also noted that excelling in sports opens numerous academic opportunities.

Vijayalakshmi, president of the PTA, remarked that sports contribute to physical and mental development, enhancing courage and adventurous qualities.

Fr Bonaventure Nazareth, correspondent of Milagres Educational Institution, extended his best wishes to the athletes for their success.

A parade by the students marked the occasion.

The programme was attended by Fr Dr Michael Santumayor, principal of Milagres College; Fr Uday Fernandes, principal of Milagres Central School; Melwyn Vas, principal of Milagres PU College, along with other faculty members.

Lecturer Glancy Fernandes welcomed the gathering, physical education director Aakash Shetty proposed the vote of thanks, and lecturer Chaitra compered the event.
