Mumbai, Sep 14: Nitesh Tiwari's much-awaited epic 'Ramayana' has begun its musical journey with the release of its first song, 'Jai Jai Ram', giving fans a fresh glimpse of Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi as Lord Rama and Sita.

The song was released on Monday after the makers unveiled its poster earlier in the day on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. Composed by AR Rahman, written by Dr Kumar Vishwas and sung by Shreya Ghoshal and Arijit Singh, the track has drawn attention for both its music and visuals.

The song's release has also sparked discussion among fans about the film's visual effects. Several social media users have praised what they described as a noticeable improvement in the film's VFX and overall visual presentation compared with footage released earlier.

The music video features several new glimpses of Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama and Sai Pallavi as Sita, including tender moments from their wedding and other parts of their journey together.

Fans have been comparing the new footage with scenes shown in earlier teasers and trailers, sharing "before and after" images of similar sequences. Many viewers have praised the VFX and colour grading, saying the visuals appear to have undergone significant refinement.

Some fans have also speculated that the makers may have improved the visuals in response to criticism surrounding the earlier footage.

In April, after the initial footage received both praise and criticism online, producer Namit Malhotra had said the team was paying close attention to audience reactions.

"We're listening closely, working diligently, and pouring every effort possible into honouring it with the reverence it holds," Malhotra had said, adding that the footage released at the time was "just the beginning".

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, 'Ramayana' stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Lakshmana.

The ambitious project is being made as a two-part epic. The first instalment is scheduled to hit theatres during Diwali 2026.
