Mangaluru: Exposed iron rod in pothole near Bunts Hostel sparks safety concerns

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (ANK)

Mangaluru, Jan 9: An exposed iron rod sticking out of a pothole near Bunts Hostel has become a serious safety concern for vehicles and pedestrians alike. Local shopkeepers have raised alarms about the potential hazards but report receiving no response from corporators or elected representatives.

The protruding rod poses a significant risk of accidents, especially to passing vehicles. Pedestrians crossing the area are also in danger of injury.

A similar incident was reported earlier at the Netravati bridge, where a car tire was punctured by a protruding iron rod. Luckily, the driver narrowly escaped without severe harm.

Despite multiple efforts by shopkeepers to temporarily fill the pothole with mud, the hazardous situation persists. Authorities, however, have shown little interest in addressing the problem, much to the frustration of locals.

Shopkeepers are urging the concerned authorities to take immediate action and fix the issue to prevent potential accidents and ensure public safety.

Now the central government is only talking about Viksit Bharat only trying to divert the country.. These type of elected representatives and officialls we will not achieve our goals. The speed breakers are only repaired without the marking or white paint and warning signs, what are we talking of smart city.

At the same location the MCC has removed the rusted/broken police barriers and plastic road dividers which were bolted to the road in the pre COVID era. This has been replaced with short lengths of brick/ cement road dividers. One near the Karangalpady market cross road and one near the Bunts Hostel intersection. The one near the Karangalpady market cross road has two things wrong with it. One- the metal bolts which were used to fix the plastic poles to the road are still there. Sticking out to the road they are a menace, specifically to two wheeler riders. The new divider itself is hardly visible in the evening hours and has already caused a accident as is evident with the broken condition. This has also been left unattended and no attempt has been made to improve its visibility with reflective traffic signage etc.

Instead of protesting by our elected representatives against Siddaramayya, it's better protest in front of our MCC, and in front of these types of potholes. Sham, Shame.

Thats the result when construction is done and before giving free to traffic one doesnt control whether properly done .Thats the mistake of traffic controllers or officers.Noone controlls the done work..Very bad .threat to life or vehicles.Only God can hold his hands over passing person or vehicles.may be better someone put a danger board near potholes or a piece of red cloth over the place and tie it?to attract attention of MCC?
