Panvel, Feb 2: A 22-year-old woman, Jagruti Haresh Satve, was brutally murdered by her ex-boyfriend, Nikesh Bhagwan Shinde, in Khandeshwar near Panvel on January 31. The incident took place at Jyoti Apartment, Sector 18, New Panvel, in the presence of Jagruti’s mother and sister.

The two had been in a relationship for five years, but had separated three months ago, a breakup that Shinde reportedly had difficulty accepting. The police say Shinde suspected Jagruti of being involved with another man, which ignited his anger. The argument between them escalated, and in a fit of rage, he attacked Jagruti, slitting her throat with a knife.

After the attack, Shinde inflicted injuries on his own neck and wrist, seemingly attempting suicide. Both were rushed to the hospital, but Jagruti succumbed to her injuries. Shinde is currently undergoing treatment at MGM Hospital in Kamothe and will be arrested upon his discharge.

The couple, who had known each other since school, had reportedly been involved in frequent arguments following their breakup. A case has been registered under multiple sections, including murder and criminal intimidation, with additional charges for possession of a weapon.
