Chennai, Mar 18: A sharp decline in tomato prices across Tamil Nadu has left farmers in distress, forcing many to destroy their crops due to unviable returns.
Reports indicate that an oversupply in the market, coupled with reduced demand, has led to a drastic fall in prices. In several regions, tomatoes are being sold at throwaway rates, making it difficult for farmers to recover even their production costs.

Frustrated by the losses, some farmers have resorted to discarding their produce, highlighting the urgent need for government intervention to stabilize prices and provide relief to the farming community.
