Mumbai, Sep 29: Bollywood actor Sonal Chauhan has said she holds no disappointment over not returning for Jannat 2, despite her character Zoya surviving the first film.

In an interview with India TV, Chauhan reflected on her 2008 Bollywood debut Jannat, in which she starred opposite Emraan Hashmi. While her character Zoya survived the film, Hashmi’s character Arjun Dixit died at the end, and Chauhan did not feature in the sequel.

Chauhan said she prefers to remember the positive aspects of the film and remains grateful for the response she received. She said the fact that audiences still refer to her as Zoya, 18 years after the film's release, is something she values.

The actor also said she does not carry any disappointment from that period and is happy to have been part of a film that continues to be remembered by audiences.

Chauhan spoke warmly about Hashmi, describing him as a special person and her first co-star in Hindi cinema. She said his support and the way he treated her during her early career made Jannat particularly special to her.

The actor also noted that both she and Hashmi have received renewed appreciation in 2026. Hashmi returned as Shivam Pandit in Awarapan 2, while Chauhan has been receiving attention for her role as Mumtaz Bibi in Mirzapur: The Movie.

Looking back 18 years after Jannat, Chauhan said she finds the renewed appreciation received by both actors particularly meaningful. She said the continued affection for her earlier character Zoya, along with the response to Mumtaz Bibi, has given her another memorable association with audiences.
