Bengaluru, Mar 21: As preparations for the SSLC exams are complete, students in over ten districts of Karnataka are facing an additional challenge—scorching heat. With temperatures soaring between 38°C and 42°C, combined with increased humidity, exam conditions have become even more difficult.

With 8,96,447 students appearing for the exams across 2,818 centers at 15,881 schools, authorities have ensured the installation of CCTV cameras and essential facilities. However, officials admit that despite rules mandating proper ventilation, lighting, and fan arrangements, implementing these provisions in all centers is challenging.

Given the intense heat, arrangements for drinking water are being prioritized. Additionally, prolonged study hours and stress can impact students' health, necessitating the presence of health personnel at exam centers.

Health and family welfare commissioner Shivakumar K B stated that health department staff will be stationed at exam centers two hours before the exam and remain available until the end. ORS packets will be distributed to students to prevent dehydration.

Dakshina Kannada district health officer Dr H R Thimmaiah confirmed that urban health center personnel will be deployed in city areas, while primary health center staff will be present in rural regions to assist students facing health issues.
