Panaji, Mar 22: The department of tourism, government of Goa, is set to launch a large-scale sterilization and treatment drive from Monday to tackle the growing stray dog menace on the state’s beaches.
The initiative aims to enhance public safety, animal welfare, and a cleaner tourism experience. Injured dogs will be rescued, treated, and rehabilitated as part of the programme, with sterilization efforts being coordinated across multiple beach locations.

Tourism director Kedar Naik emphasized the government’s commitment to a safe and responsible tourism ecosystem.
“This drive will not only curb the stray dog menace but also promote a more hygienic and animal-friendly environment. We urge all stakeholders to support this initiative for the greater good of Goa’s tourism sector,” he stated.
Additionally, the mission rabies hotline will be widely promoted through hoardings and awareness campaigns to further Goa’s efforts in rabies prevention.
