Panaji, Apr 8: Bollywood actor Abhay Deol, known for his offbeat roles and love for travel, recently shared his favourite experiences from Goa, revealing a side of the coastal state that often escapes mainstream tourist trails.
In a recent interaction, Deol highlighted the unique charm of Chikhal Kalo, a traditional Goan mud festival held in the village of Marcel. “It’s not just about getting dirty in the mud — it’s a celebration of community, tradition and joy. I’d recommend it to anyone who wants to experience Goa beyond its beaches,” said the actor.

He also mentioned his fondness for Kakolem Beach, often referred to as one of Goa’s best-kept secrets. Tucked away in South Goa, this pristine and less-explored spot offers a peaceful escape for those looking to disconnect. “Kakolem is breathtaking. It’s quiet, clean and untouched. Reaching there may be a bit tricky, but it’s absolutely worth the effort,” Deol noted.
While tourists often flock to the popular haunts of North Goa, Deol encouraged visitors to explore the quieter, more culturally rooted side of the state. “There’s a magic to Goa that lies in its hidden festivals, coastal villages, local food, and untouched landscapes,” he said.
Known for his artistic choices in cinema, Deol’s travel picks reflect his appreciation for authenticity and offbeat adventures — encouraging others to discover Goa with fresh eyes and open hearts.
