Los Angeles, Apr 12: Jack Quaid, known for roles in The Hunger Games, Logan Lucky, Novocaine, and Oppenheimer, recently took a walk down memory lane, sharing a painful yet humorous childhood mishap that almost sidelined his stage debut.
Speaking on the 'Smallzy's Surgery' podcast, Quaid recalled his middle school acting debut, where he landed the lead in the school’s first-ever play. "That was my leading man era in middle school,” he joked. But things took a turn when he attempted a parkour stunt just a week before opening night. “Parkour had just become cool, and I thought it would be a great idea to leap from one locker to another,” he said. “I immediately fractured a bone in my foot.”

Despite the injury, Quaid performed the entire show wearing a medical boot. “Not my finest moment, but I made it work,” he laughed. He’s stayed away from parkour ever since — though he added with a grin, “Maybe I’ll give it another shot someday.”
Now starring as Nathan Caine, a man who can’t feel pain, in the dark comedy Novocaine, Quaid admitted he’s no stranger to injuries on set. “I’ve bruised a rib on a job before — total freak accident,” he shared, while clarifying it didn’t happen during Novocaine.
Quaid, the son of Hollywood veterans Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan, also addressed the ongoing conversation about “nepo babies” — children of famous parents in the entertainment industry.
“I get it, I really do,” he told The Daily Beast. “I’ve had a lot of doors open for me that don’t open for others. I got representation early — and that’s already winning half the battle.”
Despite the privilege, Quaid is determined to carve his own path. “I’ve worked as hard as I can to prove I deserve to be here. If I’m doing a rom-com, or any role, it needs to be unique — and I need to bring everything I’ve got.”
