Jaipur, Apr 29: Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the young sensation who turned heads at the 2024 IPL Mega Auction, has now set the cricketing world ablaze. At just 14 years and 32 days old, the Rajasthan Royals' prodigy smashed the second-fastest century in IPL history, and the fastest ever by an Indian, leaving the crowd at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in absolute awe.
Acquired for a hefty Rs 1.1 crore, many believed Suryavanshi would be a benchwarmer this season. Instead, he stunned the nation by scoring a blistering 35-ball century in just his third innings. His heroics powered the Rajasthan Royals to a dominant eight-wicket victory, as they hunted down a massive 210-run target in just 15.5 overs — the quickest chase of a 200+ total in IPL history.

Speaking after his record-breaking knock, a composed Suryavanshi said, "It is a very good feeling. It's my first hundred in the IPL and it's only my third innings. The result is shown here after the practice before the tournament. I just see the ball and play."
Displaying a mature head on young shoulders, he added, "Batting with Jaiswal is good, he tells me what to do and he infuses positive things. It has been a dream to get a 100 in the IPL and today it materialised. There is no fear. I don't think much, I just focus on playing."
Suryavanshi’s breathtaking innings of 101 runs included 11 towering sixes and seven sizzling boundaries. In doing so, he shattered several records — overtaking the likes of Manish Pandey (19 years 253 days), Rishabh Pant (20 years 218 days), and Devdutt Padikkal (20 years 289 days) to become the youngest centurion in IPL history.
His whirlwind century is second only to Chris Gayle's iconic 30-ball ton, while he also eclipsed Yusuf Pathan’s Indian record of a 37-ball century.
With his fearless approach and explosive strokeplay, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has not just announced his arrival — he has heralded a new era for Indian cricket.
