Mumbai, May 3: After her praised performance in The Bhootnii, actress Mouni Roy is all set to tickle funny bones in David Dhawan’s upcoming comedy Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai.

Backed by Ramesh Taurani’s TIPS banner, the film marks a father-son reunion as Varun Dhawan headlines the project directed by his father, veteran filmmaker David Dhawan.

Mouni has joined a star-studded ensemble that includes Mrunal Thakur, Pooja Hegde, Chunkey Panday, Maniesh Paul, Jimmy Shergill, Rakesh Bedi, Ali Asgar, Kubbra Sait, Rohit Saraf, Rajeev Khandelwal, Nitish Nirmal, and Sreeleela.

The actress recently jetted off to Glasgow for a month-long shoot and shared glimpses from the sets on social media. Posting pictures with co-stars Varun and Mrunal, she wrote, “So glad to be on set with my beauty @mrunalthakur & the dapper @varundvn #HJTIHH.”

Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai borrows its title from the hit track of David Dhawan’s 1999 film Biwi No. 1, which featured Salman Khan and Karisma Kapoor.

Prior to the Glasgow schedule, Varun and Pooja Hegde had filmed key scenes in the scenic locales of Rishikesh.

Mouni, currently riding high on the success of her role as Mohabbat, will be seen in a completely new avatar in this light-hearted entertainer. She also has another major project, Salahkaar, directed by Faruk Kabir of Khuda Hafiz fame, slated for release in 2025.
