Abu Dhabi, May 17: OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, is reportedly set to play a key role in the development of a massive new data centre in the United Arab Emirates, which could become one of the largest in the world, Bloomberg News reported on Friday.

According to sources cited in the report, the Microsoft-backed AI company is expected to be a major anchor tenant for a 5-gigawatt data centre campus in Abu Dhabi. While OpenAI's involvement has not yet been finalised, a formal announcement is anticipated soon.

The development comes a day after the UAE and the United States signed an agreement for establishing the largest artificial intelligence campus outside the US, marking a significant step in global AI infrastructure expansion.

OpenAI has not yet commented on the report, and no official confirmation has been made public.
