Alwar, Jun 6: In a shocking incident that unfolded in Rajasthan’s Alwar district, a man was robbed of a garland made of cash worth Rs 14.5 lakh at gunpoint while returning from a wedding. The incident took place on June 1 near Chuharpur village when the victim, identified as Shad, was heading back to Haryana on a motorcycle after attending a wedding in Bhiwadi.
Shad, a relative of the groom from Kishangarh Bas town, was riding pillion when a speeding car intercepted their bike. In a sudden attack, the assailants forced them to stop, threatened Shad with a firearm, and violently snatched the cash garland before fleeing the spot. Shad also suffered injuries to his head during the assault.

The garland, made up of approximately 3,000 Rs 500 notes, was a rented item meant to honour the groom — a common celebratory tradition in North Indian weddings.
Local police have launched an investigation and are scanning CCTV footage in the area to trace the culprits. Meanwhile, the incident has sent shockwaves through the region, raising questions about safety during wedding processions involving large sums of money.
Authorities have urged people to remain cautious and avoid carrying such valuables in public without proper security measures.
