Moodbidri boy tops COMEDK 2025; 55 Karnataka students in top 100 ranks

Bengaluru, June 8: Moodbidri’s Shishir H Shetty has secured the first rank in the COMEDK 2025 Undergraduate Entrance Test (UGET), emerging as the national topper in the engineering entrance exam conducted by the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka.

He is followed by Malik Jain from Punjab and Varun J Kumar from Karnataka in the second and third positions, respectively. Among the top 10 ranks, four students are from Karnataka.

In the top 100 ranks, Karnataka students have bagged an impressive 55 spots. Out of 11,412 candidates scoring between the 90–100 percentile range, around 3,330 students are from Karnataka.

This year, over 1.13 lakh candidates appeared for the exam out of 1,31,937 applicants. COMEDK UGET 2025 was held in two phases across 179 cities in India on May 10 and May 25.

Following the release of the provisional answer key on May 28, 69 objections were received. After due review, the final answer key was released on June 4.

Shishir H Shetty, a student of a private college in Moodbidri, is the son of Harish Shetty and Sumitha Shetty. He has also achieved an All India Rank of 664 in JEE Advanced, scored 99.971 percentile in JEE Mains, secured 4th rank in engineering in KCET, and ranked 7th in his PU board exams.

"I’m extremely happy. I aspire to pursue B.Tech at IISc," said Shishir.

His mother Sumitha Shetty expressed gratitude saying, “Even late at night, the teachers patiently clarified every doubt related to my son’s studies.”
