New Delhi, Jun 11: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded an Orange Alert for several regions across the country, warning of intense weather conditions over the next few hours. The alert, which remains in effect for 2–3 hours, predicts moderate to heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds with speeds reaching up to 60 kmph.
The alert spans across multiple states, triggering preparedness measures from local authorities.

Chhattisgarh is also under watch, with warnings issued for Mungeli, Kabirdham, Bemetara, Raipur, Durg, Rajnandgaon, Balod, Kanker, and Narayanpur.
Further west, Maharashtra districts such as Gondia, Bhandara, Chandrapur, Wardha, and Nanded are bracing for rough weather.
Down south, Karnataka's Bangalore Urban, Bangalore Rural, and Ramanagara districts have been flagged for adverse weather, while in Tamil Nadu, alerts cover Thiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Kallakkurichi, Cuddalore, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Tenka Si, Kanyakumari, and Theni.
In Kerala, residents of Thrissur, Ernakulam, Idukki, Kottayam, Alappuzha, Kollam, and Thiruvananthapuram have been urged to remain cautious and vigilant.
Meanwhile, in the northeast, parts of Assam including Dibrugarh, Charaideo, and Sibsagar are also expected to be affected by thunderstorms and strong winds.
Officials have urged people in the alerted districts to avoid open spaces, stay indoors during lightning, and refrain from taking shelter under trees or near weak structures. Commuters are advised to check traffic updates and road conditions before travel, as sudden heavy rain may result in waterlogging and low visibility.
The IMD continues to monitor the developments closely and has assured that timely updates will be provided. Citizens are encouraged to stay connected to official weather channels and heed all safety advisories.
