Mangaluru: Srinivas University celebrates World Environment Day

Mangaluru, Jun 13: The BCom department, in association with the NSS Unit of Srinivas University, Pandeshwar campus, celebrated World Environment Day with great enthusiasm and active participation on June 11 though the official date falls on June 5th every year.

The theme of the celebration focused on raising awareness about environmental protection and encouraging sustainable practices among students and faculty. The event commenced with a formal inaugural ceremony. As a symbolic gesture of environmental responsibility, Jeeth Milan Roche led the sapling plantation, with all dignitaries joining him in this green initiative.

Following this, an oath-taking ceremony was conducted, led by Prof Seetha Laxmi, where students pledged to protect and preserve the environment. The highlight of the event was the guest talk by Jeeth Milan Roche, who inspired the audience by sharing his real-life experiences, environmental missions, and the importance of individual responsibility in combating climate change and deforestation. The celebration not only raised awareness but also instilled a deeper sense of environmental commitment among the participants.

The activities were supported by Prof Venkatesh Amin - dean of Institute of management and commerce, Prof Sharmila Shetty-HOD of BCom, Prof S Seethalaxmi-NSS co-ordinator.
