Mangaluru, Jun 13: The Mangaluru traffic police have taken action against individuals for reckless riding of two-wheelers in the city and have seized their bikes.

On June 12, a video began circulating on social media showing a shocking instance of dangerous riding. The video, captured by a person travelling in a car behind the biker, shows a helmetless rider carrying two pillion passengers and performing reckless manoeuvres along the stretch between Pandit House and Thokkottu. The footage shows the biker dangerously weaving through traffic, endangering not just his own life but also those of his passengers and other road users.

In another video that surfaced a few days ago, three youths were seen riding a bike with a faulty number plate at Lalbagh. This video, also captured by a car passenger, quickly went viral on social media.

Mangaluru traffic police have registered cases under multiple sections of the Motor Vehicles Act, including Section 184 for dangerous driving, Section 194-C for triple riding, Section 177 for a defective registration number plate, Section 194-D for riding without a helmet, and Section 180 for riding without a driving licence.

Police need to post all video, photos on public website, and should not mind political affiliation of the irresponsible riders.

I heard that in Dubai, there is an app called 'Dubai Eye' where citizens and residents can report any illegal activities anonymously. Mangalore traffic police can come up with such an app where people can record violations and post.

What about the four wheelers parked on footpath and hence forcing pedestrians to walk on the road. The traffic police just give a blind eye when four wheelers parked on footpath near corporate jewelery outlets.
