This solemn occasion marked the formal induction of the newly elected student council a symbolic reaffirmation of the school’s core values: leadership, commitment, and service.

The dignitaries were warmly welcomed at the entrance by the vibrant rhythms of the school band. In a graceful gesture of respect and symbolic honour, the chief guest, Dr Devi Prabha Alva, associate professor of commerce at St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, was presented with a crystal tortoise a symbol of enduring wisdom, quiet strength, and steady progress. Her presence added prestige and inspiration to the event. She was accompanied by Sr Maria Sarika AC, principal; Sr Meena Fernandes AC, vice principal; and Liston Deric D’Souza, vice president of the PTA.

The morning’s proceedings began with a soulful prayer service, invoking divine blessings for the young leaders embarking on a new journey of responsibility. This was followed by a graceful welcome dance performed by students, adding a touch of cultural vibrance and setting an uplifting tone for the ceremony. Reishan Maria Fernandes delivered the formal welcome address and eloquently introduced the esteemed chief guest.

The school was truly honoured to have Dr Devi Prabha Alva among us — a distinguished academician and mentor. She is an associate professor of commerce, former head of the department of commerce, and former dean of the faculty of commerce and management at St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru. A certified national trainer with grade A accreditation from MEPSC (Management & Entrepreneurship and Professional Skills Council), she is also a POSH act trainer and Nation Building Trainer (NBT) certified by BOSCH India. Her inspiring achievements and unwavering dedication to education made her presence truly uplifting for all.

The highlight of the ceremony was the oath-taking, where the newly elected leaders pledged to uphold the school’s core values and vision. Priyanka Anna Correa, the newly appointed head girl, led the oath with poise and conviction. The solemnity of the moment was palpable as the hall echoed with a shared commitment to integrity, humility, and service. In her address to the gathering, Priyanka expressed heartfelt gratitude to the principal, staff, and students for entrusting her with the esteemed role, vowing to carry out her responsibilities with dedication and sincerity.

Following this, the dignitaries donned the sashes and pinned the badges onto the newly elected cabinet members, officially investing them with their responsibilities. This marked not just a ceremonial transition but a profound call to leadership, rooted in values of discipline, service, and empathy.

The chief guest, Dr Devi Prabha Alva, in her inspiring address, congratulated the newly elected leaders and reminded them that they are the future torchbearers of society. She urged them to dream big, aim high, and strive to become role models by embodying the values they learn from their teachers, parents, and peers.

Emphasising the importance of self-worth, she encouraged the students not to compare themselves with others, but to embrace their uniqueness. She also advised them to speak thoughtfully, avoid criticism, and lead with kindness and integrity. Her message concluded with a hopeful vision for the year—one filled with peace, purpose, and progress.

Principal Sr Maria Sarika encouraged the young leaders to embrace their new roles with courage, commitment, and a heart ready to serve. She reminded them that this investiture ceremony marks not just a title, but the beginning of a bold new chapter where they become the spark and strength of the school.

Emphasising the year’s theme — Ignite. Inspire. Innovate. — she urged students to lead with compassion, respect, responsibility, teamwork, and integrity. She highlighted the importance of trust, perseverance, gratitude, and the quiet strength of actions over words.

Concluding with a heartfelt wish, she encouraged the leaders to shine their light, lift others, and remain true to who they are.

The programme was anchored with remarkable composure by Shaivi Amin and Rushda, who conducted the proceedings seamlessly. Sr Meena Fernandes, Tr Dora D’Souza, and Tr Sumana M were appointed as School cabinet animators for the year 2025–26.

The ceremony drew to a close with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Shikha Prasad, who acknowledged the efforts of all dignitaries, staff, and students.

As the school anthem rang out, the event concluded on a resonant and proud note, echoing the values of unity, leadership, and unwavering commitment that define the spirit of St Agnes School CBSE.
