Mumbai, Jun 21: On the occasion of the 11th International Yoga Day, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde stirred political ripples by linking the day to his 2022 rebellion against the Uddhav Thackeray-led government, terming it a ‘bada Yoga’ that, he claimed, reshaped the state’s political landscape.
Shinde said, “21 taarikh ko hi humne bada Yoga kiya tha, that was a marathon Yoga.” Referring to his split from the original Shiv Sena, he asserted that June 21 marked the start of a political movement that brought “stability and development” to Maharashtra.
Shinde, who led the 2022 rebellion that resulted in the collapse of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government, emphasized that under the current leadership, the state has seen significant progress. “Devendra Fadnavis and I are working together under the guidance of PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for the welfare of the people,” he added.
Shinde also extended greetings on International Yoga Day and praised Prime Minister Modi’s global push for yoga. “Due to PM Modi’s efforts, the UN recognised this day. Today, the world celebrates Yoga Day,” he said. He added that the Prime Minister’s personal commitment to yoga is a reason behind his fitness and leadership strength.
“PM Modi is strengthening the country and its economy. He even taught a lesson to Pakistan with Operation Sindoor,” Shinde stated.
Meanwhile, the 11th International Day of Yoga was marked by enthusiastic participation across Maharashtra and the world, with thousands joining sessions to celebrate health and well-being through yoga.
